Officially operational! Gotion High-Tech helps build the largest energy storage power station on Japan's remote islands.
On July 30th, Okinawa Electric Power Company (OEPC) announced the official commercial operation of the Miyakojima Second Power Station's large-scale energy storage station. With a capacity of 12MW/48MWh, the project is the largest energy storage station in Okinawa Prefecture and even on Japan's remote islands. It utilizes a 3.42MWh liquid-cooled energy storage system provided entirely by Gotion High-Tech.
As an isolated island with an independent power grid, Miyakojima has long relied on diesel generators for power generation, which is constrained by fuel transportation and faces high costs. The significant increase in the proportion of renewable energy further exacerbates challenges to grid stability and security. To address this challenge, Gotion High-Tech provides an industry-leading energy storage solution. It utilizes Gotion High-Tech's proprietary lithium iron phosphate batteries, which offer high safety, ultra-long cycle life, superior rate charge and discharge performance, and are environmentally friendly and pollution-free. The system is equipped with a proprietary battery management system that monitors battery health in real time and provides overcharge and over-discharge protection, ensuring stable power station operation. The system also employs a comprehensive, multi-layered battery protection strategy and features an intelligent liquid cooling temperature control system, improving energy efficiency by approximately 30% compared to traditional air cooling, ensuring comprehensive system safety and reliability. The overall modular container design offers a simple structure for easy installation and maintenance. After rigorous system integration and testing, it fully complies with Japan's stringent safety, reliability, and environmental standards.
Once operational, the energy storage plant will store surplus power from photovoltaic and diesel generators during the day and steadily release it during peak nighttime electricity demand. This will provide up to 12MW of additional power, increasing overall power supply capacity by approximately 15%. This model not only alleviates power pressure on isolated power grids but also helps expand the utilization of renewable energy, enhancing the island's energy security and resilience.
At the project site, the neatly arranged energy storage systems contrast beautifully with the azure waters and blue skies of Miyako Island, becoming a symbol of the symbiosis of green energy and ecological beauty. As the largest operational energy storage plant in Okinawa Prefecture, it sets a benchmark for the coordinated development of green energy and ecological protection throughout the prefecture. Okinawa Prefecture has many scattered outlying islands, and its energy supply has long faced similar challenges. The successful commissioning of the Miyakojima Energy Storage Power Station will provide a reference for energy transformation on other outlying islands, helping Okinawa Prefecture to take the lead in the layout of clean energy on outlying islands and promote the optimization of regional energy structure and sustainable development.

Solid-state batteries refer to lithium-ion batteries that use solid electrolytes instead of liquid electrolytes. Based on the amount of solid electrolyte used, they can be further divided into two main categories: semi-solid-state batteries and all-solid-state batteries:1) Semi-solid-state batteries
Semi-solid-state batteries, which relevant authorities plan to uniformly name "solid-liquid batteries," are a type of battery that uses a hybrid solid-liquid electrolyte. They incorporate a solid electrolyte while retaining some liquid electrolyte, building upon the foundation of traditional lithium
