CIBF2025 Kicks Off in Shenzhen, Showcasing Global Battery Innovation and Green Energy Trends
Shenzhen, China, May 15 (CNS) – The 17th Shenzhen International Battery Technology Exhibition and Conference (CIBF2025), widely recognized as the “global benchmark of the battery industry,” officially opened today at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. With an exhibition area exceeding 300,000 square meters, the event brings together more than 3,200 exhibitors and over 400,000 professional visitors from around the world.
Organized by the China Industrial Association of Power Sources (CIAPS), this year’s CIBF is themed “Linking the World · Empowering Green Energy · Driving the Future.” The show has been comprehensively upgraded to serve as a full industry chain platform covering materials – cells – equipment – recycling – applications, reflecting the industry’s strong momentum and green transition.
The exhibition features 3 Green Energy Halls, 4 Advanced Materials Halls, 7 Smart Manufacturing Halls, and 1 International Pavilion, offering a panoramic view of the entire battery industry ecosystem—from raw materials and cutting-edge manufacturing to energy storage and e-mobility solutions.
Highlighted zones such as the CATL Pavilion and the PV+Storage+Charging Integration Area provide cross-sector insights into photovoltaic-storage synergy and smart grid applications. Attendees can also explore new immersive experiences through three interactive zones: a social check-in area, new product launch zone, and a global buyers matchmaking section.
At the forefront of innovation, cutting-edge technologies like solid-state batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and hydrogen fuel cells made strong appearances. Leading battery manufacturers such as CATL, EVE Energy, Sunwoda, and REPT BATTERO showcased high-energy density and ultra-fast charging solutions compliant with the latest EV battery standards. Japanese, Korean, and European firms competed with breakthroughs in cobalt-free cathodes and silicon-carbon anodes.
The exhibition also featured the “Advanced Battery Frontier Technology Forum” with the theme “Green Energy Powers the Future.” Top scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and executives from major enterprises shared insights on critical topics such as:
Halide-based all-solid-state battery development
High-energy solid-state batteries for ultra-fast charging
Next-generation propulsion technologies (solid-state & hydrogen hybrid)
1000Wh/L lithium-ion battery material systems
As a key application of battery technologies, energy storage emerged as a major highlight at CIBF2025, revealing five significant industry trends:
Solid-state batteries received widespread attention, with more than 30 companies—including Ganfeng Lithium, Gotion High-tech, and Sunwoda—presenting advanced prototypes. Companies such as BTR and DFD Nanotech introduced nano-silicon anodes and solid electrolytes, while Enjie Co. unveiled 99.9% purity lithium sulfide and high-conductivity separator materials.
Dry-process manufacturing methods are being optimized to reduce energy consumption and equipment costs. Lead Intelligent and Jiatuo Automation demonstrated integrated dry-electrode solutions enabling “zero-carbon” battery production. GaoNeng Digital exhibited solid-state battery integrated manufacturing systems with smart automation.
Biomass-based activated carbon materials also gained traction. Kingsem Technology utilized coconut shells and ramie to produce high-performance activated carbon for supercapacitors—showcasing a circular path from agricultural waste to green energy storage.
Sodium-ion batteries are rapidly advancing. CATL’s Na+ battery solutions, including the “Shenxing” dual-core platform and 24V heavy-duty truck batteries, drew widespread attention. Yadea Huayu launched a sodium battery with 80% charge in 10 minutes and over 92% discharge efficiency at -20°C, targeting electric two-wheelers.
Kingsem Technology’s 1.25MW/5MWh hybrid energy storage system—combining supercapacitors and lithium batteries—utilizes a unique "power-time decoupling" algorithm to maximize efficiency and extend lifecycle to the million-cycle range.
Renergy showcased a 7MW capacity containerized testing system designed for full-chain validation of energy storage modules. Meanwhile, BYD introduced its MC Cube-T Pro BESS with in-house developed blade batteries, CTS integration, modular compartments, and enhanced thermal/electrical isolation for top-tier safety.
Ganfeng Lithium debuted its 587Ah cell with 438Wh/L energy density, 96% efficiency, and 12,000-cycle lifespan, ideal for 6.25MWh containers. Sunwoda’s 625Ah cell supports 2kWh per unit and 2000V systems through thermal-electrical separation design.
BYD’s NM51.2-150N and NM76.8-332N marine battery modules, Penghui Energy’s “Qingtian 520” product line, and Shenghong New Energy’s MW-grade testing cabin all delivered impressive energy efficiency, modular expandability, and lifecycle performance.
Supercapacitors from Kingsem Technology demonstrated low internal resistance (0.18mΩ) and <5% capacity deviation, enabling rapid grid response and redefining short-term high-power applications.
Kingsem's integrated liquid nitrogen fire suppression system extinguishes fires in 5 seconds and cools battery systems to -150°C within a minute—moving storage safety from passive to proactive.
BYD’s Chess Plus liquid-cooled BESS incorporates ceramic pole cells, internal aerosol fire suppression, and AI early warning for all-around risk mitigation.
Likron Energy launched a self-developed high-accuracy BMS AFE chip (±1.5mV voltage, ±0.5% current accuracy), strengthening system stability and safety assurance.
Commercial and industrial storage solutions were widely featured. BYD’s Chess Plus supports PV-storage-charging integration for industrial parks and microgrids, enabling up to 8 units in cluster mode.
Special-use cases also emerged:
BYD’s FS307-135N batteries for heavy-duty forklifts
NM51.2-150N marine batteries for ocean applications
Multi-scenario adaptability for EV, ESS, marine, and grid infrastructure
As China accelerates toward a closed-loop battery industry, covering everything from materials to recycling, CIBF2025 serves as a critical milestone for technologies like ultra-fast charging, solid-state batteries, and sodium-ion batteries to transition from lab innovation to mass production.
Zheng Hongyu, President of CIAPS and Chairman of the CIBF2025 Organizing Committee, emphasized the importance of establishing industry-academia-research collaboration to tackle challenges and power sustainable development.
“2025 is a defining year where groundbreaking technologies are scaling rapidly. China's battery industry is not only green—it’s globally connected and technologically leading.”
